Apply for the card: Online
The first step if you’d like to apply for an HSBC Classic Credit Card is to have an active bank account with HSBC.
So, if you’re already an HSBC client, you can jump straight to the cards application. Otherwise, you must first open the account.
There are many different accounts; the only one that does not qualify is the Basic Bank Account. The eligibility requirements are the following:
- You must complete at least 18 years of living on this planet;
- To have proof of residency and ID;
- Undergo a credit check made by HSBC.
Open your bank account on the website, and then you can ask for the HSBC Classic Card. You’ll have to provide basic personal and financial information.

Apply for the card: Mobile App
Once your HSBC is opened, you can download and register to use the mobile app and online banking on your desktop.
You can choose which of these two ways to apply for the HSBC Classic Credit Card. You can also apply in person at the nearest branch.
So, to apply from the mobile app, log in and select the card you’d like to apply for. Once approved, you can add the card to your digital wallet.
But you’ll also receive a physical credit card with contactless payment technology.
HSBC Classic Credit Card or Capital One Classic Credit Card?
The HSBC Classic Credit Card is popular in the UK for people on the building-credit journey. But it is not the only one.
